PlayStation 4 is less than 18 months away

Microsoft wanted to get the Xbox 360 out way before the PS3 to get an advantage which is just what they did (although the 360 overheats, does not have a HD Drive as standard or Wi-Fi) so the Sony PS3 is late to the next-gen console world but in my eyes is much better than the 360 and better value for money when you add up how much it will cost to buy all the bits the 360 is lacking (by the way I own a Xbox 360 and will buy a Sony PS3 soon).
Now its been just a few months since the Sony PS3 was launched and now Sony are already planning a New PlayStation 4 which could be out in as little as 18 months (claims a Sony source), this will really give them an edge.
Rather than the new PlayStation being an entirely new console, the device is said to be much like the current console but with a new drive bay and attachment area, much better software in the form of software to manage content being streamed to a TV or Hi Fi source (so really its still a PS3 but with an upgrade, much like the new Xbox 360 due this year).
This will make the PS3 much more of a home entertainment hub rather than as a games machine (this is where the real war will be between the games consoles).

One would only imagine that the GAME console war would be between… Oh… I dunno… consoles that play GAMES. Not entertainment hubs. That’s another thing about the 360. I’d much rather spend less just to play games, because frankly, I don’t care about HD DVDs or wi-fi or anything. Give me games.
All those features the PS3 has over the Xbox360 do not improve the quality of gaming, it just raises the price.

The Xbox360 already does this and will do it better when IPTV is released. MS software for streaming and managing content is vastly superior to Sony’s offerings. You still cannot use you own custom MP3’s with PS3 games for example.
And the entertainment hub comment. It’s killing the PS3. Consumers buy consoles for games. Not this “jack of all trades, master of none” system. Btw. The Xbox360 does all those multi-media functions far better then the PS3 right now. IPTV in the fall will make this gap even larger.
Bottom line. Where are the games for the PS3? That’s why we buy consoles. Not to fold and print and watch movies.
The PS3 already does this with the latest firmware upgrade 1.8. i already stream all of my music, photos, home videos, ane movies to my ps3 wirelessly. 360 stands for the round trip you make to the store to get ur box fixed
BS……….ps3 devs recently said that they just need to keep giving more firmware updates….the hardware is more than enough to last for 10 years..after update 1.80 upscaling sony is already planning to give a new update increasing audio and video quality by a futher 40-50%
your ’source’ is cleary wrong, or one of the following, troll, idiot, xbot(don’t blast me charles), or lives under a rock
another BS article. No way is Sony gonna shit on themselves more than everybody else already is. They arent gonna release a PS4 and basically admit the PS in PS3 stands for P(iece of) S(hit). Name one thing the ps3 does that the 360 doesnt? other than the almighty blu-ray - which i couldn’t care less about, i grew up with VHS - so DVD is still pretty damn good in my book!
It’s been said before, but i will say it again - i want a games console to play god-damn games, not a better version of a movie i’ve already seen.
