New York 911 Getting New Technology
With the uptake on mobile phones, with nearly everyone having a phone these days they have been made very useful in crime situations, for example in the London bombings people gave mobile phone images to press and police that helped identify attackers.
This is not the only situation that mobile phones have helped, this has happened all around the world and now in an effort to fight crime with the combination of technology and citizens New York has come up with an amazing idea.
You now can send videos and photos to police on the 911 service in New York, this is a simple but brilliant idea.
From a person just walking down the street that sees crime happening from robberies to people trying to expose themselves to children, just take the photo or video and send it to 911 and they have much more of a chance of getting nicked.
This is great news for the people of New York (well not the crooks) and I hope towns in the UK follow this idea soon.
