Sony Nav-U Portable Navigation System
Sony has launched a new small and compact portable navigation system which has been eagerly anticipated by many Sony and gadget lovers.
Under the nav-u brand the GPS device will help drivers map a destination, find points of interest and re-route them to avoid any traffic jams.
The 3.5 inch touch-screen is a nice size and in full color, the voice prompts are clear and audible from a resident two-way speaker system.
It is also rumored that the GPS industry will double in 2006 so this would make sense why Sony wants to release the nav-u brand.

This is the NV-U70 which has a built in antenna and proprietary RF technology which is said to let the NV-U70 GPS receiver get a satellite signal within seconds of you turning it on (much better than the Tom Tom 700 I have then).
You even get in the box 1GB of imbedded flash memory that is preloaded with maps, to get updates to the mapping database you only need to connect the NV-U70 to a PC’s USB port.

The Sony NV-U70 will be available to buy in February 2006 and the price will be about $700.
