Samsung SE-W164 External DVD Writer

If we were looking for the perfect mix of a fast writer, but also affordable then the Samsung SE-W164 is our pick.
For around £55/$90 this DVD writer is able to write DVD+R double layer discs at 5x and writing DVD-R double layer discs at 4x, also the SE-W164 is set up for safe operation and best speed.
Although the settings are pre-set you can change them with the Magic Speed Program and turn on the Maxspeed…that’s up to you.
DVDs have been quickly replacing CD-ROMs as the main source for storing portable computer data and have got much cheaper of late, although this will change again to HD-DVD or Blu-Ray but this will be some time yet.
Samsung’s SE-W164 external DVD burner is great value for money but the competition is extremely tight with many companies producing new drives.
We feel it’s a great choice for those on a budget and want value for money, but what do you think?
