Flat panel & LCD prices in free-fall

Flat panel displays are in a free-fall right now, I brought my first LCD computer monitor a couple of years ago and it cost £400/$700, then the other day I looked in my local superstore and saw a 17inch monitor for £124/$200, prices have dropped a ridiculous amount over the last year, my first plasma 2 years ago was £2500/$4,000 and now one much better is about £800/$1500 for a 42inch Plasma screen.
This is all mainly because of fierce competition from budget brands, Wal-Mart sell a 42-inch plasma for $997.

Things are getting cheaper without a doubt, but how cheap can they go?
