Everything about the first TomTom Go 300 has exceeded my expectations, not long after I brought it, I was in the uk seeing friends and we used the tom tom to drive to germany. Glad we had the tom tom, it made life easy.
This is most simple device I have come across to use. I rent cars on a regular basis all over Australia and have only found a few bugs in the map supplied. The night vision is superb. I intend to travel to the US and Europe and went looking a portable decision that was simple to install in a rental car. I tested all the others on the market and found this device was the only one that was clear enough for the conditions I travel in.
Tom Tom are one of the best known gps systems, I have not brought one myself but have heard from my friend they lose signal a bit, but she fixed that by buying an external antenna for the tom tom 300, also see tomtom 500 for Hands-free calling via Bluetooth, Door-to-door planning in your region + major roads of Europe and the tom tom 700 for Remote control.
: I had a bmw 7 series with sat nav which was great, but had lots of problems with the car (do not buy a bmw 7 series, new 2004 model, has many, many problems)
Anyway back to topic, I got another car but wanted to buy a portable gps navigation so it could go from car to car.
As you guessed I got a tomtom go 300, and it is great, clear and great colour display. I would suggest you buy the tomtom 300 satnav as I am very very happy with it and know others who say its the best, other than the newer tom tom models that have more features but more money, so it depends on your budget.
